At Vangwe, you will have the opportunity to work with top-tier international clients, developing innovative e-commerce solutions and high-impact web applications. We are looking for an experienced and analytical Senior Backend / Data Engineer to join our engineering team.

You will be responsible for building scalable services, data pipelines, and robust backend solutions for our payment products. We foster a supportive and collaborative environment where continuous learning and professional growth are a priority.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute in all phases of the application development lifecycle.
• Design, develop, and deliver high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems and data analytics platforms.
• Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code.
• Implement and maintain REST APIs and backend services.
• Work with relational and non-relational databases to ensure data integrity, performance, and scalability.
• Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives, proposing new technologies and participating in architectural reviews.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Requisitos

What We Are Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in backend or data engineering roles.
• Strong programming skills in Java, Python, or Golang.
• Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
• Solid experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, AuroraDB) and query optimization.
• Experience with non-relational databases (Redis, DynamoDB, MongoDB, etc.)
• Solid knowledge of data modeling and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience working with distributed data processing frameworks (Apache Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Presto, or similar).
• Familiarity with cloud environments, preferably AWS (S3, Redshift, RDS, Lambda, Glue, EMR, etc.) or GCP.
• Experience with version control systems (Git/GitHub).
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and platform tools.
• Advanced/fluent English (written and spoken).
• Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity to learn, and ability to work both independently and in a team.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Agile methodologies (Kanban, JIRA).
• Familiarity with orchestration tools (Apache Airflow, Prefect, Mage, or similar).
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, PowerBI, or similar).
• Familiarity with streaming technologies.
• Experience with Unix/Linux environments.
• Understanding of various data formats (AVRO, JSON, Parquet, CSV).
